When you have money it distances you from the poor, it distinguishes you from the poor.
Why is it important to distance yourself from the poor?
If people associate you with the poor, you will be treated with disdain and given handouts and aid. But handouts and aid is belittling, it cripples you financially. What you need to become financially independent is to be given an opportunity to put your skillsets to work to create compelling value in the marketplace and be rewarded with money.
If people see you as poor, you will not be given an opportunity to create value and be rewarded with money. If people see you as poor you will never be granted access to places and groups that matter. You will not be invited to have discussions that can advance your career and business. The worst thing that can happen to you is to be identified as a poor person. You will become invisible and will not be seen by the rich who have the resources, influence and network to help you become rich.
It is therefore imperative to lift yourself out of the dregs of poverty through value creation. Do all you can to distance yourself from poverty. Put your skillsets to work, create value and attract money to your life. When you hang out with the rich, show them that you are an asset, not a liability. Prove to them that your association with them is not parasitic, that you are not around them to beg them for money, but you are around them to solve problems and bring them immense value. When you prove yourself and you can be trusted, the rich will give you an opportunity to create value and attract more money.
